We are excited to share that Severino Alfonso’s research project “Ecos de Luz” (Echoes of Light) will be showcased at Practising Eco‑Social Futures: The VOICE Artist Showcase, hosted at the Royal College of Art’s Battersea campus in London on Tuesday, 31 March 2026. The event brings together artists from the VOICE project whose work unfolds at the intersections of art, ecology, technology, sensory experience, and community engagement. Their practices explore long‑term relationships with local environments and social contexts—unearthing sensory, cultural, and ecological layers often overlooked in mainstream narratives.

Similarly, Synesthetic Research and Design Lab’s research ethos is guided by sensory ethnography, embodied cognition, and multisensory design toward more empathetic, inclusive, and responsive spatial futures. Rather than flashing “finished” artworks, the event foregrounds process, method, and dialogue—mirroring how our lab treats artistic practice as an engine for discovery. This emphasis on shared making, reflection, and experimentation aligns with SR&DL’s commitment to understanding how diverse bodies and minds experience space, and how art can reveal new modes of perception and relation.

This Matters for us at SR&DL
The themes explored in the VOICE Artist Showcase follow our own ongoing work in:
designing for sensory difference,
co‑creating environments with underrepresented communities,
expanding architectural representation through multisensory methods, and
imagining eco‑social futures grounded in care and reciprocity.
We see art as both a critical lens and a generative tool, capable of illuminating the complexities of lived experience. This event is great for exchanging practices, comparing methodologies, and proposing a shared commitment to inclusive, imaginative, and sensory‑aware futures.
We would be happy to see you at this art show and to expand this dialogue!
